Helping Raise Water Awareness in Spring River Watershed - Spring 2008
Along with other agencies and organizations, the ERWIA joined the Jasper County Water Watchers ST3320
on May 31 for its first WaterFest.
The event was held at Kellogg Lake in Carthage with 15 demonstrations and seven vendors scheduled. ERWIA’s included: Rain Garden by John Hobbs, Groundwater Flow Model by Alvin & Rosiland Layne and a Macro invertebrate game.
Kufara, an African Marimba band, performed throughout the day. Despite stormy conditions, 120 adults and children came out to learn about water and their watershed. Other agencies and organizations participating included the University of Missouri Extension, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Department of Conservation, the Ozark Paddlers, and MAKO fly fishermen.
